Converting a CSV file:
Ad Manager reports are downloaded as CSV files. To modify this formatting, follow the steps below.
Excel
Select column A (where the data is stored).
Go to Data → Text to Columns.
In the Text to Columns Wizard:
Choose Delimited and click Next.
Check the delimiter that matches your CSV file (e.g., Comma, Tab, or another separator).
Click Finish.
Google Spreadsheet
Click on File → Import.
In the Import File window:
Select Upload and drag and drop your CSV file, or click Select a file from your device to browse for it.
Once the file is selected, you'll see import options. Choose:
Replace Spreadsheet: Overwrite the current sheet with the CSV content.
Insert new sheet(s): Add the content as a new sheet within the file.
Append rows: Add the CSV data below the existing rows.
Click Import Data.
US v.s. UK formatting
Ad Manager reports use US formatting, where decimals are separated with a decimal point and thousands with a comma (1,234.65). However, most programs such as Excel and Google Sheets, may default to UK formatting, which uses a comma for decimals and a dot for thousands (1.234,65). This discrepancy can create issues with reporting.
To adjust settings for proper formatting, follow these steps:
Excel
Select the cells you want to format.
Right-click and select Format Cells (or go to the Home tab → Number group → "Number Format" dropdown → "More Number Formats").
Go to the Number or Currency category and ensure the symbols are set appropriately (e.g., a comma , as the thousands separator and a dot . for decimals instead of vice versa).
Google Spreadsheet
Select the cells with numbers or currency.
Go to Format → Number → Currency → Euro (€)
If needed, click Custom currencies and select Euro (€) and use commas for thousands.
